At Luscinia International Women’s Choir of The Hague we believe in singing with fun!
Welcome to Luscinia, where music and friendship know no borders! We’re a vibrant international choir with members from around the globe—think British Isles, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Finland, Canada, and beyond.
With around 25-30 voices blending together, we create more than just harmonies—we create a community. Our four voice sections (1st and 2nd soprano, 1st and 2nd alto) bring a rich, dynamic sound to everything we sing, from timeless classics to modern favorites. What makes us truly unique? It’s the magic of sharing music across cultures, each of us bringing a piece of our world into the songs we sing. At Luscinia, rehearsals are filled with laughter, discovery, and a shared love for the joy that music brings.
We aim to perform twice a year, and our music takes us to exciting places — from choir festivals and charity events to concerts for the elderly and performances supported by the Gemeente Den Haag. Twice annually, we organize heartfelt concerts for our friends and family, celebrating the warmth of summer and the coziness of winter with music.

Rik Henning
Our Choir Director
With nearly 20 years of experience, Rik is a passionate conductor known for his warm, kind-hearted nature and deep musical expertise. Trained at the Utrecht Conservatory, he studied conducting, piano, and singing, performing with renowned ensembles like the Great Broadcasting Choir and under conductors such as Jaap van Zweden and Valery Gergiev.
Rik has led choirs of all kinds — classical, pop, and barbershop — always creating a welcoming, uplifting atmosphere. With his gentle professionalism, sense of humor, and positive energy, Rik makes every rehearsal a space where singers feel inspired, supported, and part of a wonderful community.

Singing with Luscinia is my break away from everything else going on in my life. I love performing and the rehearsals are always fun. We have a great repertoire and we are constantly learning new songs, some of which are challenging. I love my Monday evenings with this great, talented group of women.
Joining Luscinia has been one of the best decisions I’ve made since moving here. It’s not just about the music — though singing with such a talented and diverse group is an incredible experience — it’s about the people. Every rehearsal feels like catching up with old friends while creating something beautiful together.
Singing with Luscinia is good for my body and mind, heart and soul! Beyond the sheer joy of singing beautiful music together, supported by our amazing conductor Rik and pianist Vladan, this is simple the most diverse, supportive and fun group of international women, and I am eternally grateful to be part of this community!
The Luscinias welcomed me into the Luscinia family and shared with me the joy of singing together. They showed me that, if you share a common passion, the differences quickly fade into the background and make room for joy!
Singing makes me happy and singing with the Luscinia’s makes me super happy! In rehearsals we study songs part by part. Sometimes we do extra practice per voice group at somebody’s home.

As soon as a spot opens up, we’ll be delighted to welcome you as a full member! Please fill out the form below.
